History
The Sikkim football team represents Sikkim, a former protectorate and now state of India. When a protectorate, they were not affiliated with FIFA or the Asian Football Confederation, and therefore did not compete for the FIFA World Cup or Asian Cup.
They compete in the Santosh Trophy under the Sikkim Football Association.
Sikkim, ett indiskt fotbollslag som representerar delstaten Sikkim i nordöstra Indien. Laget grundades 1992 och spelar sina hemmamatcher på Paljor Stadium i Gangtok, huvudstaden i Sikkim. Sikkim är en av de nyare tilläggen till den indiska fotbollsligan och har ännu inte vunnit några större troféer. Men laget har gjort sig ett namn för sig själv med sina starka prestationer i landets lägre divisioner. I säsongen 2019–20 slutade Sikkim på femte plats i I-League 2nd Division, vilket var deras högsta placering någonsin. Laget leds av tränaren Mayur Dey och anförs av mittbacken Bikash Jairu. Sikkim är känt för sin snabba, attackerande spelstil och sina lovande unga spelare. Laget förväntas fortsätta förbättras under de kommande åren och bli en stark utmanare till de bästa lagen i Indien.
